Jefferson County Employees Credit Union promises to provide honest, fair treatment for every member, every time; to treat every member with respect and dignity; and to strive to be a trusted financial advisor that members can count on to assist them in achieving their financial dreams. The Credit Union will continually demonstrate the value of membership by delivering a wide range of low cost products and services to the diverse economic and social make-up of our members. We will look for better ways to serve the needs of the underserved segment of our member base.
We will promote our products and services in a meaningful way so that members, potential members, legislators, regulators, and the community at large will understand and appreciate the unique role that locally owned, not-for-profit, financial cooperatives play in their lives.
Jefferson County Employees Credit Union's business plan will emphasize programs that enable members to become financially self-sufficient and successful. We will place high importance on consumer education and the teaching of financial thrift.
The Credit Union will remain focused on its commitment to members by adhering to well-structured statements of vision, values, and mission.

Governance
Jefferson County Employees Credit Union is committed to preserving democratic principles, including demographic representation and volunteer participation on its board of directors and committees.
Board of Directors
Credit Union members at the Credit Union’s annual membership meetings elect members to serve on the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors consists of seven members serving alternating terms. Board members normally serve a three-year term and are eligible for re-election upon expiration of a term. If a vacancy occurs between annual meetings, the Board of Directors appoints a Credit Union member to fill the vacancy until the next annual meeting, at which time the position is filled by a vote of the membership.
Supervisory Committee
The Supervisory Committee is elected by the membership to oversee audit functions and ensure that the Credit Union includes sound internal controls in its operations.
The Supervisory Committee consists of three members who serve one-year terms and are eligible for re-election upon expiration of a term.
Credit Committee
The Credit Committee is elected by the membership to oversee the Credit Union’s lending functions.
The Credit Committee consists of three members who serve one-year terms and are eligible for re-election upon expiration of a term.
Volunteerism
Members of the Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee, and Credit Committee serve voluntarily and without pay.

Commitment to the Credit Union Movement
Jefferson County Employees Credit Union supports the credit union movement by providing resources and actively promoting the credit union difference.
Credit Union Associations
The Credit Union is a member of the Alabama Credit Union League and the Credit Union National Association. These dues-supported organizations are important resources for credit unions.
Governmental Affairs
The Board of Directors and senior management follow legislative issues that affect credit unions, and actively support grassroots efforts to preserve credit union principles and philosophy.
CU-Vote
CU-Vote is an organization created by the Alabama Credit Union League and it's Board of Directors that is dedicated to protecting the interests of consumers and their right to choose the provider of their financial services. Jefferson County Employees Credit Union actively supports this organization.
Filene Research Institute
The Credit Union is a member of the Filene Research Institute. This organization conducts comprehensive research on matters of importance to credit unions, and provides white papers and reports to its members.
Leadership Involvement
Senior management’s commitment to the Jefferson County Employees Credit Union and the credit union movement is also reflected through volunteer service on boards and committees of credit union organizations such as the Alabama Credit Union League, CU-Vote, Corporate America Credit Union, and the Alabama Credit Union Administration.
Staff Development
The Credit Union provides financial assistance for post-secondary education to enable employees to advance their career path. The Credit Union also provides in-house training as well as online career training through Digital University.

Corporate Citizenship
Jefferson County Employees Credit Union enhances the economic and social well-being of the community by providing financial resources and participating in events with its sponsor and credit union organizations to support numerous charities.
Each year the Credit Union gives five Charles Henry Crim scholarships to eligible students. The Credit Union established this scholarship fund in 2002 to honor Charlie Crim who served on the Board of Directors for over 30 years.
